Think sustainability holistically

How we make the IMPACT FESTIVAL as sustainable as possible

With the IMPACT FESTIVAL, we focus on the consistent implementation of sustainable principles and measures. We orient ourselves to the Agenda 2030 adopted by the United Nations and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as well as the European Green Deal.

With the IMPACT FESTIVAL, we focus on the consistent implementation of sustainable principles and measures. We orient ourselves to the Agenda 2030 adopted by the United Nations and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as well as the European Green Deal.

With the IMPACT FESTIVAL, we not only hold an event on the topics of innovation and sustainable transformation, but we also aim to implement our event as sustainably as possible and promote sustainable event organization. In line with the action areas of the Federal Environment Agency (more about this can be found here), we integrate sustainable practices into every step and every phase of event organization. This way, we not only adhere to ecological standards but also promote environmentally friendly initiatives. We minimize our negative impacts as much as possible and strive for a continuous reduction of our ecological footprint.

We are aware that an event like the IMPACT FESTIVAL cannot take place without new emissions. An event of this scale can never be completely sustainable.

Green vibes only.

From catering to the location – this is how the IMPACT FESTIVAL will be as low-emission as possible.

Why do we continue anyway?

Why do we continue anyway?

Why do we continue anyway?

The IMPACT FESTIVAL serves as a platform and network that promotes and makes visible sustainable innovations and solutions, inspires and educates companies and individuals. It fosters new collaborations and partnerships that arise from the event and strengthen our collective efforts towards a more sustainable future. We are convinced that the added value of our event is great and the positive impact outweighs.

Keeping our footprint as small as possible?

Keeping our footprint as small as possible?

Keeping our footprint as small as possible?

Sustainability at the IMPACT FESTIVAL means considering all levels of our event, from planning and organization to execution and follow-up. We focus on the following core areas:

Event Organization | Transportation and Arrival | Catering | Waste Management and Recycling | Inclusion and Diversity | Education and Awareness

Our CO2 footprint

Our CO2 footprint has been detailed and analyzed in the years 2022, 2023 & 2024 with our Climate Action Partner Climate Seed.

Based on the data of our CO2 footprint, we make a climate contribution every year in the form of a donation.

Disclaimer: The somewhat increased results of the IMPACT FESTIVAL 2024 are also, but not only, due to the measures we have implemented, but also result from improved data availability compared to the previous year.

Our measures for a more sustainable event execution

Our measures for more sustainable event execution

Event Organization:
  • Sustainable service providers: We talk to all our service providers before awarding contracts and check them against sustainability criteria such as distance to the event location and transport routes.

  • Improvement of materials: We are constantly looking for new materials and better solutions for booth and stage construction, such as switching from Forex graphics to fabric prints.

  • Rental materials: For technology, furniture, plants, and decorations, we exclusively use rental materials to conserve resources. For example, we rely on energy-saving state-of-the-art LED lighting technology.

  • Local and social brands: We incorporate local and/or social brands into our offerings.

  • EMAS-certified location: Choosing an EMAS-certified location guarantees environmentally friendly standards. More about this here.

  • Green electricity: Our entire event runs on 100% green electricity without external or mobile power sources.

Transport & Arrival:
  • Sustainable arrival: We encourage all participants to use sustainable travel options and offer a DB event ticket.

  • We have chosen a central event location, making it easy to arrive by public transport.

  • Partner hotels: Our partner hotels are located in close proximity to the event venue to minimize travel distances.

Catering:
  • Vegan catering: We completely avoid animal products and offer 100% vegan catering for all participants, as this results in a significantly lower CO2 footprint.

  • Reusable dishes: We exclusively use 100% reusable dishes.

  • Free drinking water: We provide free drinking water for all participants.

Waste Management:
  • Minimizing waste: We minimize waste in every respect and work closely with Messe Frankfurt to ensure the proper disposal of any waste generated.

  • Avoiding disposable materials: We actively encourage all participants to avoid the use of disposable materials and offer alternatives, such as digital presentation options.

  • Ban on disposable items: We have established a ban on all disposable items that are typically found at trade fairs.

  • Return of materials: Rental items such as lanyards can be returned and reused.

Inclusion & Diversity:
  • Against discrimination: We are firmly against fascism, homophobia, sexism, racism, and violence. Throughout the event, there will be an information booth and an awareness team where negative experiences can be reported and help can be sought at any time. We enforce a zero-tolerance policy on site.

  • Bilingual staff and program: We employ bilingual staff in direct contact with participants and a live translation tool for our IMPACT and TRANSFORMATION STAGE.

  • Gender-neutral restrooms: We offer gender-neutral restrooms.

  • Diversity on the stages: We strive for maximum diversity in terms of age, gender, origin, and position in the company.

Education & Awareness:
  • SDG area: In our SDG areas, we align with the UN's sustainability goals.

  • Sustainability guide: Solution providers and partner companies receive a comprehensive sustainability guide and additional support for their sustainability efforts if needed.

  • Online program: Our program is available online to allow participation without travel (via livestream and digital exhibitor profiles).
